Welcome to Lovely Laities!
How did the idea come
about?
While living in the UK, my husband and I started a family. I chose
to use cloth nappies because they were cheaper and so many of my friends already used them. When I returned home to SA I discovered that
the products I was so familiar with weren't readily available. I
therefore decided to make them available. But I wanted to do more
than simply sell nappies... I wanted to leave my kids an inheritance that isn't spoilt by the effects of dumping disposable nappies. I therefore started offering a free advice service - nappucinos - with no strings attached, to help others make the decision to start using cloth nappies more often.
What is the vision
for Lovely Laities?
I am a biologist by training. I love
creation and want to play my part in looking after it, so that my
children will inherit something beautiful. I also love my country
and want to play my part in developing it. I want to provide information
that will help you to make changes in your life style that will
help to preserve life. I eventually hope to sell a large range of
mother and baby products that are produced in an environmentally
friendly and ethical manner, while providing employment and training
for the local people in Cape Town.
How did the name come
about?
'Laitie' (also spelt laatjie, laitjie
or lightie) is a South African slang term that means 'little one'.
Since my kids are the inspiration behind the business I wanted the
name to reflect them in some way.
